My name is Renee Roxann Smith (Rhoden) and I am the creator of Roxy's Natural Language. I was born in 1997 in Jamaica and raised in West Palm Beach, Florida. Roxy's Natural Language is a new, self-starter, black-owned womans business. Ever since I can remember I have suffered with Seborrheic Dermatitis which is classified as a skin condition that affects the scalp. It causes red, dry, flaky and scaly patches, inflamed skin and stubborn dandruff. My parents did everything to make my scalp cool, comfortable and non-flaky by using Denorex and Blue Magic Originals Hair grease on my scalp. I have been doing my own hair care since the age of 12, transitioning from heat damaged hair from excessive straightening. I did a above the shoulder cut to get rid of the heat damage in 2013, doing consistent curly, blow out, protective styles, and deep conditioning weekly. I was only flat ironing only 2 times a year, instead of bi-weekly. 

During these times there was a limited amount of companies who catered to curly hair so throughout school I made different pastes, conditioning treatments, and masks to help heal my scalp and grow my hair, especially deep conditioners and protein treatments with ingredients like eggs, mayo, beer, aloe vera, henna. I would apply baking soda paste to my scalp to replace shampoo and vinegar to condition my hair because it clarified the scalp and made the hair soft and shiny as well as balancing the scalps pH. By 2018 I grew my hair to tail bone length and for some reason I stepped into the adventure of cutting and dying my hair honey blonde which created its challenges. I had very dry, brittle, and dull hair because it was exposed to the sun daily. I did a jaw line curly cut in 2020 and continued to create products to strengthen, grow, and retain my beautiful black tresses at home to combat when commercial products weren't doing what my hair needed. 

I uploaded my first YouTube Channel in 2021 to help guide others to a healthier more manageable hair experience by making products and styling at home. I fell off of my flow of making my own products and my hair started to change, scalp became more inflamed and my hair was becoming more dry and tangled because commercial products aren't as moisturizing as my hair required. October of 2023 I had enough of the irritating scalp and turned to the dermatologist hoping they could fix it. I use the prescribed topicals and they immediately gave me relief but over time I realized it wasn't a permanent solution and the prescriptions would most likely create more health issues. 

I knew I needed to go back to natural and heal myself from the inside out. Once I made my formulas and tested them on myself for one full year I decided it was time the people needed to experience the bounty of my homemade hair products knowing how well it worked for me and my family. I continued to build on my knowledge through years of trial, error, and research. I have learned about the various extracts, herbs, seeds, and oils that are scientifically proven to stimulate growth, strengthen and heal the scalp and hair. With the confidence of science backing my claims I took the leap of faith to tap into the hair business to make beautiful, healthy hair affordable and attainable for all. 

All I can hope for is to share the same unique and fulfilling hair experience that has worked for myself, family, and friends.
